Paint code: LG5T "Azul Báltico" (Baltic Blue)
A new limited run named the "Jeans Edition" was released in Mexico in November 1999. It was, naturally, produced at the Puebla plant and reserved for the Mexican domestic market. This Jeans Beetle is completely finished in the beautiful Baltic Blue paint code, except for the side mirror, the front side window trim, and the vent window. The bumpers are highlighted with a black insert strip. Externally, only a small Jeans Edition decal surrounding the alarm key switch identifies this special edition. Mechanically, the 2000 Jeans is identical to the rest of the 2000 model year production line, featuring the 1600 cc fuel-injected engine and alloy wheels. The Jeans Edition series was limited to a production run of 1,000 (*) units.

Limited information is available regarding the 2000 Jeans equipment, but key features include:
The 2000 Jeans features 4½J X 15 alloy wheels with VW-branded plastic center caps. This wheel design can also be found on other Mexican special editions, such as the Firebeetle, the Harlequin, or the Clásico.
The mechanical setup complies with standard Mexican Beetle specifications for the 2000 model year.
